Developer Meetings

The QGIS project aims to hold regular developer meetings, aka 'hackfests' and 'bughuntings'. The purpose of these meetings is to get together people committed to improving the Quantum GIS project including developers, documenters, bug reporters as well as users.

Hackfests

The developer meetings (so called "Hackfests") are always organized by some local person or group of persons related to QGIS in any way. It's always fun to meet all the other people in person, talk to them and fix some bugs, create new ideas and have fun.

You find reports about the passed meetings in the submenu.

Bughuntings

The first bughunting meeting was held in Moscow, Russia  at December 5, 2009 and organized by GIS-Lab.info and Institute of Ecology and Evolution.  You can find report here.

Howto sponsor QGIS Developer Meetings

As a condition the meetings usually depend on financial contributions from the community. QGIS developers and contributors are donating their valuable time and you have a great occasion to support or even enable him or her to join the meeting and get the opportunity to discuss and collaboratively resolve bugs, plan the direction for the project and work on new features together with other developers.

The money will be used to cover costs such as venue, meals and to help reducing travelling and accommodation expenses for participants with far arrival. All of the work that takes place at the developer meetings will be directly contributed back into the QGIS project to the benifit of everyone who uses it.

If you are interested to sponsor the Developer Meeting, just click on the Make A Donation PayPal button in the left-hand menu, read more about the QGIS Sponsorship and Donation project or contact Paolo Cavallini <cavallini at faunalia dot it> for more information.
